The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort has marked the end of a very successful year by featuring in Condé Nast Traveller’s annual Gold List. Part of Navarino Dunes, the first phase of Costa Navarino, the prime, sustainable destination in the Mediterranean, The Romanos Resort becomes the first Greek hotel to feature in the category ‘Best Hotels for Leisure Facilities’.

Let's take a look at local Greek delicacies, shall we? :) Greece is known for its abundance of flavors that have delighted diners across the world. But did you know about the three that are native to Costa Navarino?
Diples, figs and olive oil are all treats that hail from the region.

Diples are made of a thin dough, rolled and fried in oil and drizzled with warm honey. They're often sprinkled with chopped nuts.

Figs are the bite-sized, deep purple fruit popular across the globe. Biting into a fig, you'll encounter a sweet and slightly spicy flavour.

Olive oil is the most common of the three. Olives harvested in the Costa Navarino region are pressed for their rich oil, which is then enjoyed as a salad dressing, cooking ingredient or condiment.

The anniversary of the Battle of Navarino is an annual celebration in Costa Navarino. Visitors can observe a military ceremony and explore docked battleship(s) in the harbour. This year will mark the 184th anniversary of the historic battle that took place in 1827, when Britain, France and Russia defeated the Ottoman and Egyptian fleet in order to help gain Greek independence.
